We care about people and helping them protect their homes and businesses. Our expertise allows us to design, install, commission and maintain security and life safety systems that help keep people’s homes and businesses safe. Our team understand the different needs and systems that work best from securing a home to a large scale commercial premises.
Our history
RES Limited was formed in 1997 by Stephen Donaldson to meet the security and fire safety needs of clients that were having electrical works carried out by Richmond Electrical, Stephen’s original company formed in 1977 with the support of his wife Linda.As our client’s needs grew so rapidly, Richmond Electrical no longer reflected the full scope of the services we offered and expertise we had.
Since that time Stephens daughter, Leeanne, and son, Paul have both joined the company and our family business has developed to deliver solutions across many industries and sectors and we continue to evolve our services with new, ever-changing technologies to meet the needs of our customers.
Our commitment
The constant evolution across all the latest types of systems available and the need to solve ever more challenging solutions has allowed us to develop specialisms in fire safety, access control, security, CCTV and electrical systems. We are always striving to innovate and make best use of the technologies available to us as we offer our clients greater protection.
Our Reach
We work with clients across a wide range of sectors including residential, industrial, commercial, entertainment and healthcare. Our healthcare systems are in specialist care facilties and residential care homes throughout Northern Ireland.

Director & Senior Engineer
With over 50 years experience, Stephen is invaluable in developing our technicians from apprentices onwards and has helped many electricians and technicians over the years to achieve their goals.

Senior Technician
Steve is our portable fire extinguisher specialist and is a BAFE SP101 technician for their maintenance and inspection. Highly experienced in fire alarm system maintenance and commissioning, Steve carries out the majority of our addressable fire system commissioning works.

Andrew carries out fire system maintenance, emergency lighting maintenance and electrical repairs. Andrew is developing his skills into intruder alarm and CCTV systems and will continue to develop into a multidiscipline technician.

General Manager
Leeane ensures the delivery of projects, maintenance inspections and customer service. Organising the delivery of planned preventative maintenance, response call outs and dealing with customer issues, Leeanne has over 20 years experience in handling the day to day operations of RES.

Master Electrician
Kerry has over 50 years industry experience, and like Stephen Donaldson, he is an invaluable resource of electrical knowledge. Kerry and John are both qualified inspection and testing engineers on electrical systems.

Administrator
Linda dots the “I”s and crosses the “t”s on paperwork and invoicing for all of the completed works on a daily basis. Invaluable to RES.

Business Development
Paul has over 20 Years industry experience, a qualified systems designer across all disciplines and fire risk assessor. Paul develops the solutions to customer problems in all sectors using proven and reliable technology and ensures their successful implementation.

Security Systems Technician
Thomas works to deliver intruder alarm, cctv and access control solutions within all our operating sectors. With knowledge across a wide range of manufacturers, operating software and IP technologies, Thomas can solve most, if not all security issues. Constantly learning new systems and technologies to meet the needs of our customers.

Senior Engineer
Over 20 years industry experience and a true multidiscipline technician on all aspects of electrical systems, fire safety, security, access control and intruder. John is leading our path into renewables and Electric Vehicle Charging Solutions.

Colin specialises in fire systems, maintenance, inspection and testing and carries out emergency lighting inspection and testing across all our customer sites. Developing as an electrician and a multidiscipline technician he will no doubt be carrying out more extensive works as he progresses along his path.
Our Accreditations
RES is a member of NICEIC, BAFE, NSI, Safe Contractor, FIA & Alcumus. We are audited multiple times per year to ensure that our work is to the highest standard and that systems we have installed comply fully with all relevant standards.
